remove.bg is closing: a free alternative with no account
remove.bg has announced that its standalone website will no longer be available from 1 December 2026 at 9:00 CET. Its background removal moves into Canva, and its developer API moves to Leonardo.Ai, both part of Canva. Unused pay-as-you-go credits expire on the same day. (Source: remove.bg’s own FAQ and pricing page, read in October 2026.)
If you used remove.bg to cut out a photo now and then, Cuthouse does that job for free, in your browser, with no account.

Is it as good?
Cuthouse uses IS-Net, an open model made for separating the main subject from the background. remove.bg had years of tuning, and on some hard photos its edges may be cleaner. For most portraits, products and pets, Cuthouse gives a clean cut, and the brush fixes the rest. Try it on your own photo: it’s free.
