Free background remover · runs in your browser
Cut out the background, keep the photo.
Cuthouse removes the background from your photos on your own device. Full resolution, no watermark, no upload, no account, and it works offline after the first use.
See it in action
Screen recordings of Cuthouse with the free features. The cut-outs were made by the same BiRefNet model the app runs; your photos stay on your device.
Three steps, all on your device
Your computer does the cutting. Nothing you drop in is sent anywhere.
Drop a photo
JPG, PNG or WebP, up to 40 megapixels. Or paste one with Ctrl/⌘ + V.
Your device cuts it out
The open IS-Net model finds the subject, whether a person, a pet or a product, in a few seconds.
Touch up and download
Fix any spot with Erase and Restore, pick a background, then download PNG, JPG or WebP.
For photos you’d rather keep to yourself
Portraits, family photos, ID-style pictures, products before launch, client work. Most background removers upload your photo to their servers. Cuthouse has no servers that could receive it.
Private by design
No upload step exists. Your photos are read and cut out by your own browser.
Full size, no watermark
Download the result at the original resolution. No credits, no previews, no sign-up.

Questions
Is Cuthouse really free?
Yes. Removing backgrounds is free, with no ads, no account, no watermark and no limit on how many photos you do. You download the full-resolution result. Pro will be an optional one-time purchase for batch work.
Are my photos uploaded anywhere?
No. The cut-out model runs inside your browser on your own device, so your photos never leave it. The only download is the model itself, which your browser fetches once from our own server and then keeps.
Does it work offline?
Yes, after the first use. Once the model is saved in your browser, you can install Cuthouse from your browser menu (“Install app”) and use it without a connection.
How good are the edges?
Cuthouse uses IS-Net, an open model made for separating the main subject from the background, including people, pets and products. Busy backgrounds or a subject that blends into the background can need a quick touch-up: use Erase and Restore to fix any spot.
What can I do after the background is gone?
Keep it transparent, or put the subject on white, black, any color, or a blurred copy of the original. You can crop to the subject and download PNG, JPG or WebP.
Which photos can I use?
JPG, PNG and WebP, from phones and cameras, up to 40 megapixels. iPhone HEIC photos open in Safari; in other browsers save them as JPG first. You can also paste an image with Ctrl/⌘ + V.
Why is it slow on my computer?
Cuthouse uses your graphics chip through WebGPU when the browser allows it, which takes a few seconds per photo. The first time, it also downloads the cut-out model (about 180 MB). Without it, your processor does the work and a photo can take up to a minute. Recent Chrome and Edge are the fastest.
remove.bg is closing. Can I use Cuthouse instead?
For one photo at a time, yes: drop it in, download a full-size PNG, no account needed. Cuthouse has no API or Photoshop plugin. Batch processing is planned for Pro.
Try it with your next photo
Open Cuthouse, drop in a photo, and download it without the background a few seconds later.
